Thanks for your interest in doing a marketing assessment! The goal is to position your book (visually and verbally) in front of readers interested in  for books / genres/ themes similar to yours.

What is the genre and subgenre? If your book fits multiple genres, what is the stronger one? Your book may be a mashup of genres (Like Pride,Prejudice and Zombies, and that’s a hook (and genre) in itself!)
Who are the target audience for your book? What do they like to read and watch? 
Why do readers want to read your book? What is the hook? What would make readers keep turning the pages? Ideas: Is it to solve a mystery for the Mystery readers? Is it to see how a hero and heroine will overcome the odds in a romance?) A great way to find the unique “hook” or “story question” is to state what is the main conflict. What is the main character trying to win/do/stop/find? What is in the character’s way? (Does this sound suspiciously like what you should be asking when writing a blurb?)
List at least three books or movies (preferably from best seller lists) that would appeal to the target audience of your particular book.
